MultiVersus went away for a year, came back different, and fans aren’t sure about it

Played a bit on the day that it returned, and thought it was slow - but maybe it was just my impression, had been almost a year since the last time, and I remember it not beign anywhere close Smash Bros. flow anyway.

The next day I had tons of connection issues, but just assumed it was on my end, but didn’t feel like picking up again. Then yesterday I caught up on this WoolieVs clip

Turns out that the game is, in fact, slower and the connection issues weren’t on my end. There are a few infinite combos - Iron Giant appears to have multiple - and character currency is far more expensive, as well as a lot other details I didn’t pick up given how little I played.

Its bizarre, to get a game that was so-so but functional and with some promise, work on it for almost a year to deliver an improved version, and then fail on almost every aspect.

As an aside, one of my particular gripes that don’t get brought up often is how disappointing the soundtrack is. There’s very few bombastic songs, and a couple that sound like lullabies? Which don’t fit at all in a (supposedly) fast paced fighting game.

30 frame input lag is fucking wild

also wild that WB managed to fumble the bag in a major way twice in one year

“fans aren’t sure about it” is the most diplomatic way of putting it lmao

I think they rewrote it in a completely different engine, and didn’t do it very well, but I’d like to think we’re seeing the pre-meddling and post-meddling versions

they went from beta to alpha :skull: client is mad buggy now and the UI went from barebones to mobile-game tier??? it’s literally hard to look at now.

the gameplay is definitely slower and floatier but i think that’s fine for a platform fighter, especially since it seems to be for kids. somehow the nick brawler seems to be targeting the melee sickos with its mechanics but it’s a tought sell at 50$ vs. free.

kinda bummed they took out a bunch of cool perks. seems like builds are pretty much easy to optimize now instead of having a lot of cool player expression like in the beta. hitboxes are kinda bad but that’s been a problem since day 1.

i’m still probably gonna play until rivals 2 comes out but it’s kind of disappointing ! i do like all the new animations and dash attack is also kinda cool. bugs got nerfed real hard too though pour one out for him :frowning:

also it makes no sense rick has 1 skin despite his whole thing being there’s tons of him.
