since Vita emulation appears to be actually good on the RP5 after some driver shenanigans, I think I might look into games on it. Think I might start with some game called “gravity rush”…don’t know if any of you have heard of it

The vita is a great system, lotta really good options on it, and the one I have physically (an import of the white/lime green model) is my emulator box for ps1 and psp games, absolutely wonderful.
And speaking of psp games, one thing I’ve noticed about Ever17 is that when it starts rambling about some scientific or mystical topic that’s usually relevant to the story but not necessarily in an obvious way, it feels much more naturalistic than when Zero Escape or AI do it. And another thing I’ve noticed about that is that… I don’t think it actually makes those moments feel better. There’s something of a charm to the way that some offhand comment would lead into an extended explanation of like… the ship of Theseus, or Francis Sheldrake’s experiments to prove the collective subconscious, or whatever, with no meaningful connective tissue on either side of it. That said, Tsugumi’s “people are software” speech is absolutely one of my favorite moments from not just this game, but from all of Uchikosi’s stories that I’ve played
EDIT: I meant to include some other recs for vita games to play, but uh… tbh most of what I’ve got loaded on mine right now are either ports of older games, or in some way slightly embarrassing to recommend (I swear Deception IV is actually really fun, please ignore the fact that its about scantily clad women torturing people to death)

Path of Exile 2 is honestly better than I expected. I would guess I’m halfway or so into act 2 now. Difficulty is definitely ramping up, I had to retool for one boss because I had like no elemental resistance and all they did was elemental damage so I got one-shot if one particularly nasty attack landed.

pleasantly surprised to boot up Sonic Mania and realize I wasn’t stuck on Chemical Plant Zone anymore. knocked out a couple more zones, will probably try to finish it sometime soon.

i putzed around with golden sun on my SP for a lil, no real intention of playing it for now. that said it’s very funny how golden sun conversations are so unbelievably poorly paced, but golden sun combat is so quick and responsive and seamless I would have finished 4 battles in the time it took me to write these past two sentences.
very clear that the combat team and the narrative team were not on the same page here because oh my fucking GOD even with fast-forward the early conversation between garret and jenna before they go to isaac’s house to pick him up is like 3 minutes longer than it needs to be. every conversation interrupted by an emote, every 3 seconds a yes/no question that has zero baring on the plot as a whole. it’s like the fucking. proto-final fantasy XIV

golden sun does have that weird thing where if a monster dies and a party member was set to attack it, they just don’t do anything, but overall I don’t remember combat being bad
of course, if I want to play a Camelot game with good plot I’ll play Mario Tennis: Power Tour /gen

oh yeah I remember that, mostly talking about the overall snapiness on my end, like every attack animation and stuff just happens so quickly it’s very nice. i don’t even have to FF through it
