What are you playing?

Dragon Quest VIII nearly won out as my next game but then my 3ds battery died a few hours in and I just realized I never saved. So I guess not. I did finally beat Nightmare mode in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Might just do Order of Eclesia after all, then probably… Curse of Darkness maybe? Alongside Xenoblade X. Either that or Simon’s Quest.

Tried One Lonely Outpost for a bit, and that gotta be the most tedious farming game I’ve ever played. They really wanted to make it as slow as possible to unlock the most basic functions of the genre, like shopping or selling your produce, and having less than paper thin characters showing up. Shame because I was expecting a narrative centered on isolation, sort of like Slime Rancher did, but it just fell flat.

Currently dealing with Like A Dragon introducing “Whorephanage” and “This Whorehouse has become a Whorehome” into my brain.

Mullet MadJack got added to gamepass so I’ll play that real quick.

Played 30 minutes of Mullet MadJack and that sure as hell is a fast paced, flashy FPS that makes my fingers hurt. Enjoyed most of it, except the hurty part. Will try again later/tomorrow.

Okay so the crab boss in Order of Ecclesia is maybe one of the best bosses in the series. Its like, that, the final boss of Portrait of Ruin, Elizabeth Bartley in Bloodlines, the final boss of Dracula’s Curse, Shaft in Rondo of Blood, Legion (Saint) in harmony of Dissonance…

I’ve started playing Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization as a sorta easy RPG to sink alot of time into, and boy is it an SAO game.

I like the combat system on this, but because it’s an SAO game, the RPG mechanics are tied with the dating mechanics and I’m gonna have to seduce all my party members up to a certain point just to give them better equipment.

I’m still returning to Rift occasionally.

Josie Brechner’s music is actually what ended up sticking with me the most out of the game. I fully expected to enjoy Jules’ and Alex’ contributions (and I sure did), but Glass Cages and Rift Within are probably my favourite songs off the OST in the end.

Fun fact: Ended up looking her up, and she also made the music for Tough Love Arena, another thing I love!

I ended up losing patience and burning through the last few characters in the Castlevania dlc for Vampire Survivors that are from games I haven’t played yet but which I do need to play as to beat the main cast (Soma, Julius, and Shanoa, and Shanoa only half counts because I am playing her game, I just haven’t beaten it). The ending was absolutely incredible, god this game has some incredible boss fights (even if Tides of the Foscarii still has my favorite actual boss fight. The rest are all pretty good, but that was the only one where I felt actually in danger of losing, and they do lose some impact once I realize I’m completely safe). So anyways, its time to start on… the Castlevania dlc for Vampire Survivors.

First Cassette Beasts and now this…

Bless up for more games using sports as a vector for mechanics. This sounds incredible.

Edit: It has a demo, rad. It’s also by the devs of Wandersong and Chicory, if that’s a selling point for some.

Very happy to report that I am indeed adjusting to how short the Castlevania games are, and order of Ecclesia ended right when I expected it to. Sort of. I got the bad end, which I was expecting, and now I’m working on the true end, which I expect to add another area or two (Maybe even three? There’s more empty space on the world map than I would have guessed). I think… this one is probably gonna fit just above Portrait of Ruin; I’m liking the moment to moment gameplay a bit more, but the pause menu’s UX is kinda awful imo, especially with Glyphs completely changing which order they appear in seemingly at random when you change what you have equipped (I assume its based on what combos are available to you?), and the story is a small step down, but not by very far. The real clincher is the art style and environments, OoE’s rural European is a wonderful change of pace from just a bunch of castles and such on repeat, and its all pretty cohesive to boot, unlike PoR’s Portrait Worlds (Which were sort of all over the place, both in theme and quality)

:mushroom:: i don’t usually Enjoy autobattlers much, but I’ve been having fun with the Bazaar, mostly due to its kind of rad aesthetic

part of the fun is also that it sounds absolutely batshit to outside observers (though this is true of many autobattlers). for example, using my silk and my fixer upper with a balcony attached along with my toxic crystal bonzai that my ledger has been adding value to with my diamond shiny cash register gives me enough shield to kill people in one shot

the downside is that the monetization scheme and main menu are both Fucking Awful, and bad enough to be nearly dealbreaking, as well as just absolutely terrible community communication from the devs
