Cassette Beasts has gender neutral pronouns in pt-br, I can’t remember seeing a game or TV show/movie translated in that way, I’m curious how it works
Kayleigh…
So far so good. I imagine that when a studio offers a game to be translated into gendered languages, the responsible party must already have a notion of the paired words, and doing one more option is obviously more work but also quite reasonably.
For reference, the word for “stuck” is “prese” as opposed to “preso” or “presa”, while in the tutorial message they use “sue” and “parceire” rather then “seu” or “sua”, or “parceiro” or “parceira”
Thatnk you for reminding me that I had meant to pick up Cassette Beasts
Cassette beasts is a lot of fun
I decided to do a replay after finishing the main story with some of the randomizer settings and it’s been something of a step up in difficulty from the main game, even if enemies are similar levels
Im glad the portugese translation/localization is good so far at least
Oh, this is going to be fascinating. Just cleared the first patrol.
Still poking my way through Drova Chapter 4, just tore through the arena because I knew I’d forget about it otherwise. Now that I’ve got the “have to find special parts for this” armor and the best axe (I assume? it’s like 160 damage and cost me a mint so probably) and have all the axe talents, basically everything melts like butter. Putting remaining points into Mind because the extra base focus is absurdly helpful.
Oh, oof, so like, right during that time at the Primeval Forest I figured out the game was just going to keep feeding me newer weapons for free, as long as I knew where to look for and, well. It did.
TBF, I also “wasted” some coins that I could’ve saved by waiting to find the Blast Rune later, but in “wasting” it I also saved the headache of running around with lesser tools, so you’re not completely in the wrong.
I can’t recall spending coins on anything aside from that and the Prosperity quest
Actually didn’t do that because I’m not particularly fond of this type of quest, but I’m pretty sure I fought the hardest opponent to get access to the highest grade skills lmao or at least that’s what I read
That’s okay we have plenty here
Finished Ys X last night. it’s the best Ys yeah, at least in terms of gameplay. Plot doesn’t hit the same way Y8 does but it’s kind of hard to hit those stakes with 17 y/o Adol lol. But it’s better than IX’s by multiple magnitudes. Probably my second favorite Ys game now, can fully and safely recommend it now that I’m done
The more I think on it the more I enjoyed the final boss. having the final battle be a friendly duel is a cool change of pace for a JRPG.
The first like 3 hours are fucking horrible pacing-wise though. We need to return to Adol getting curb-stomped directly into a dungeon again
Yeah part of it is that I had a mint to spend because I’d already bought all the +stat items and mandaragoras I’d seen folks selling and hadn’t really been buying anything else equipment-wise for awhile.
I did indeed fight the all-the-capstone-skills trainer and got that last axe bit from him.
Arena’s more interesting here than in most because the fighters tend to have weird magic gimmicks so it’s a little less beat-face-until-it-works.
e: Gothic 3’s arenas were the worst because the only good way to do them was to use the stab-move into a charge attack over and over, but they DID give you +1 strength every time you beat an opponent, so who’s to say really.
this reminds me and i have to ask before i forget: do you still accept mint as a name or are we fully bq now? or is it like barquq is preferred but if people knew you as mint you don’t mind that? it took me a little bit to switch over from thinking of you as mint but i’m basically there by now LOL but i thought i would still ask!
did some real big catch-up sessions in Persona 3 the last few days so now I’m back to in-sync with the in-game date. now I can go back to 5-min bursts per day and focus on Dragon Quest otherwise.
yeah i’m fine with all of the above people can call me whatever except for shirley
Cassette Beasts:
I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if my monsters are really supposed to be glass cannons. Almost every fight ends with me losing 30%-50% HP, and considering I can only carry 5 Pencils, things get hectic real quick.
I played this game at like the lowest difficulty, it beat my ass and I consider myself at least competent in Pokemon
Just based on the stuff I’ve done it seems very much like it believes regular pokemon games are too easy, so we should limit healing since that is one way they’re too easy.
It’s kinda like that. Also, read Kayleigh’s guidebook to get the strengths and weaknesses chart, i keep open at least half the game bc it’s a little wacky. Also, fighting ranger captains give you fused material and access to more pencils and respools.
Bought Cassette Beasts in a sale this year as I think it’ll be a nice Deck game.
Steam don’t let me down I’m pulling for a black Friday sale in the OLED model.
cassette beasts is SOOOOO GOOD i had a lot more difficulty with it than pokemon wrt, well, difficulty bc it’s a MUCH harder game but god is it so much more fun than most pokemon games i’ve played bc of it
