My big one is just writing TTRPG stuff. I have enough things in progress that if I catch myself just switching between the same 4 feeds or so I can just be like “nope, gonna go poke at one of those, they ain’t gonna finish themselves”. Either that or playing a game and making a point of not having a secondary window open: just actually trying to sit down and focus on it.
I’ve just been reading like nuts, have ordered physical copies of a few books I’ve been wanting and some I’m taking a chance on. Wild that I would ever say to myself “I don’t have time to read this” and then scroll for 3 hours or something.
ive had several dreams involving picross this week because ive been playing picross nonstop at work and in bed. sometimes you fall into a picross hole and you cant get out
I haven’t really found the perfect thing but I’ve tried to be more intentional with how I use my phone. RSS feeds, tailoring notifications so that the phone isn’t screaming for my attention trying to dictate when I use it, books, etc.
I honestly kinda just… like to dig into things so that’s often what I’m doing if I’m on my phone.
Off it though, Picross is my “keep brain happy” series. There’s something about being able to logic your way to a solution that helps calm me when things aren’t great.
Also been doing some of the Nikoli Pencil Puzzles which are great. Heck, puzzle books of most kinds are good for this.
I just wanted to add that I also think of that tumblr post all the time and also think of the tiger when I’m scrolling
The tiger post is a really good way to think about it tbh.
i got this app that suggested i don’t doomscroll in bed and thats sort of led to me not checking socials anywhere near as much as i used to, so ive ended up reading on libby or kobo and strangely enough just checking my emails a whole lot more for swiping i play offline games and have been playing an obscene amount of solitaire cause the noises make me happy
you’re so real for the solitaire bit. was super into it like 2 years ago, i should start playing again
