(North Star) I don’t understand this fully… but shouldn’t the CEOs be held accountable instead of stepping down? What kind of consequences are they getting for this lack of safety and accountability?
Can’t wait to find out how much of golden parachute they got. Or how much the company stock they were given is worth now, now that it rose in price once they left.
It’s frustrating that the people responsible for turning the company into what it is today are washing their hands off the whole thing and are going to either disappear into comfortable anonymity or bounce over and attach themselves like a leech to some other business, also in relative anonymity until they blow something up again. I have very little faith in the system to fix Boeing and make billionaires take responsibility, since the system is what has allowed and actively encouraged billionaires to turn Boeing into this husk in the first place. (The system is capitalism of course.)
I am at least comforted by what a negative public image Boeing now has, even if it has taken many tragedies and constant gross disregard for people’s safety to get here. I just hope recovering that public image won’t be as easy for them as doing something like this. I feel for all the engineers who have been made to sink with this ship for decades.
