There’s two lines, in particular, that gut me here: “maybe taking art seriously isn’t a business model” because, uh, yeah? It’s not. But it kind of shouldn’t be. Everything doesn’t need to be a business and make a profit, but that’s the only way so much is valued and it’s truly awful.
The other is, of course, “unless you are the kind of person who refers to editorial work as ‘content’, which exists for only one thing, to go next to the ads.” i doubt I have to explain to anyone here my undying hatred for “content” and the mindset that they’re taking about here. I never read Pitchfork that much, but I see the value being lost here
