I’ve been posting a fair bit about TMBG lately, but it’s the anniversary of Mink Car and in my opinion basically everything they did on that album in collaboration with Elegant Too is some of their most interesting work (yes, even Mr. Excitement, with its Mike Doughty lyrics that are out there even in the context of the band that gave us Birdhouse in Your Soul)
Like probably a third of the music I make is just me trying to do something that sounds like this but via tools that are significantly more limited

Risa Taniguchi is one of my favorite recent dark techno producers, her focus on rhythm and the sonic character of her percussion is perfect, a perfect blending of old school sensibilities with modern stylings and a rave-first focus. Sorry to sound like a BeatPort ad but it really is that good
