Oh dear, I’m so sorry. I wonder if I kill the spotify embed, if that’ll fix the issue. I’ll edit it after work today.
That would fix it but also it’s not a big deal to reboot the monitor. it’s funny
I don’t even know a single other song by this band but my gf has been blasting this through her headphones for the last week and it’s so stuck in my head. COOOOOOOOME BREEEEEAK MEEEEEE DOOOOOOOOOWN
BURY ME BURY ME
lmaooooo this is quality content
Ohhh that’s a good one. Got introduced to it through a music league back in 2020. Can’t say I’ve listened to anything else from the band but. This song good. So many different ways to use the titular phrase
I have so many bands where I only know one album by them, its an issue I’m trying to correct but then I find a new band and buy one of their albums and its just the same thing all over again. At least it means I’m gonna be able to keep picking new bands for this thread for a while (Haven’t done anything from Scary Jokes, or TMBG, or Cheekface, or Rare Americans, or Sea Wolf, or Wolf Parade, or Jack Conte, or Miniature Tigers, or Preoccupations, Or Lighthouse and the Whaler… I’ve got a pretty big backlog)
I have a similar problem except down to the level of “individual songs”. I’ll hear a singular track somewhere, go “gimme” and then that’ll be it. I think that’s a consequence of like, only ever listening to the radio as a kid instead of buying or downloading my own music. I got used to listening to songs in isolation and not associating them with a band or album. There’s a few bands that I do actively track releases and listen to full albums for, but it’s only like a handful.
Ive been a Junko Ohashi fan for a while, but i just learned about this track.
Kinda took the sting out of also learning she died almost a year ago
Offbeat rec today. It’s “The Greatest” by Sia (ft Kendrick Lamar), but more specifically it’s the fanvid of POC from live-action genre fiction, made by bironic/closetfan.
It is a fanvid made entirely with clips of POC characters, and like. There’s something to be said about how many of these characters may have been written poorly, or received poorly by fandom, or how the actors behind them got shit on for their work. But in the space of the video, I get to see all these people be superheroes and wizards and badasses. For 4 min and 30 seconds I get to see people like me be brilliant and magic and larger than life. And that just rocks tbh.
Incidentally: is there something I need to do in order to get Youtube thumbnails to embed properly when I link the video? I’ve noticed that every one I’ve posted so far has just shown up as a black box and now I’m curious if there’s something I’ve been missing or if youtube just hates me in specific
I usually just drop the link in its own line (usually the first one), unaltered aside from deleting the tracking info. So this time lets try making it the bottom line…
I need more songs like this, and Lovefool, and… uh, probably at least one song from Be The Cowboy, by Mitski, (its been a bit since I’ve given that album a proper listen) that are about a unrequited love with absolutely no sympathy for their narrator. They don’t paint it as noble, or tragic, or shine a little “Oh but maybe with persistence and honesty they’ll see you for who you really are” light at the end of the tunnel, its just… sad, and it’ll be so much better for everyone involved once they move on.
