YAAAAAAA
where’s digital devil saga
the raidou games are an interesting choice for a remaster sdfjs;d I kind of wonder what people’s reactions the mechanics will be.
Yessssss I’m ready to play the shit out of these again.
I’m glad people are finally getting the opportunity to play the good MegaTen games
Gonna be a breath of fresh air for that type of action RPG, I think the only other series that has been doing it is Ys?
if there’s one series that would massively benefit from CheatEngine giving 9999xp, that’s definitely Digital Devil Saga
I wouldn’t say Ys is very similar, I’d more relate it to the original Onimusha. Persona 5 Strikers also had some similarities, I wouldn’t doubt it if they dusted off the PS2 for some inspiration from that one.
DDS is pretty much a given at this point, especially if they’re doing Raidou first. Much as we might be fans, I wouldn’t call it the most popular of their backlog. Probably just saving the most requested for last.
Really? I was thinking of Kingdom Hearts too, but I haven’t played either Kuzunoha or Onimusha in a long ass time, maybe I am grossly misremembering what the gameplay was like.
Onimusha to me was still one of those games that spun off from Capcom’s Resident Evil framework, and thus was a little bit more survival than what it’d become eventually
yea i ahem “replayed” raidou very recently and it’s pretty slow-paced compared to other action-rpgs, Ys is about making adol a whirlwind of blades and magic that shoot out of him every 2 seconds, the APM is probably multiple times higher lol
onimusha def is samurai resident evil, i meant more like the combat style than anything else
Onimusha, Dino Crisis and Devil May Cry are all games that stand out on their own, but you can feel that Resident Evil stink still around them, until the sequels are allowed to fully embrace their own gameplay loops
Excited for more people to have fewer excuses not to play these. I love these games.
Something else about raidou is how much the demons play into the combat. It’s probably the most Action RPG pokemon game that i know of.
Raidou two tried to get a little faster and i think the overall combat suffered a little for it, but both are very solid. I still need to do a NG+ of RK2
CHAOS LEGION /j
Yeah one of my problems with Raidou 2 was that bosses had like, patterns and shit and my demons were dumber than fuck and just got sliced to ribbons by them. Like it was a better game for controlling the character but a less good one for, you know, summoning devils. (The other problem I had was that even by SMT standards demon negotiation was annoyingly inconsistent, in the 1st one you just had your little pokeball thing and that was that.)
I did like how the negotiation was more important in 2. I’m not super into SMT.(ive played a bit of persona 4 and the raidou games are the only ones ive finished), but demons were stupider and you have to be more on the ball about hiding/calling as opposed to setting a strategy and letting them handle it.
Yep. Part of it was that your demons would like…teleport next to the enemy after being unhidden too, even if they were some fragile magic-user type. Deeply frustrating.
