The D'Angelo Wallace video about Caroline Calloway is going to haunt my brain

There’s so much here.

She skipped rent on a new york apartment for a year to buy party dresses so she could party. During the 'rona restrictions

Faked her grades to get into Cambridge. Maybe. Maybe she’s lying about that? Why would you ever admit this while trying to brag about studying there and why would you lie about this if it wasn’t true??

“snake oil”, an appropriately-questionable beauty product that has cat hair due to being bottled in her own apartment, where she keeps a longhair cat

she does not know how to handle a cat at all

“I’m moving off the internet and onto Tiktok”

…while at the same time moving to a town in Florida that used to be owned by her great-grandfather

there’s one video interview clipped into the video where she appears to be laying down on a bed while holding out the camera in front of her and, like, that does not appear even marginally comfortable

on that note I’m surprised there are so many interviews but I guess she is some kind of public figure and thus of some notability/interest, as weird as that is to consider

honestly I am pretty sure I had gotten her confused with Anna Delvey the whole time, because I vaguely recall seeing the two essays Beach and Calloway wrote about their work on instagram and thinking that. I am not sure if the solution is to just shut down the whole white manhattan social scene until we can figure out what’s going on

the exchange where she asks an NYU professor if he thinks she’s a better writer than the ghostwriter she hired, who replies to the effect of “you could be if you would actually write” and took that to mean that yes she definitely is and brags about it in interviews and the book

the executive summary of her career trajectory is: wants to write a memoir titled “and we were like”. refuses to. leaves. elaborates, but only on everything else

Natalie Beach seems genuinely well-adjusted and perhaps is the perfect illustration of the aphorism “the best revenge is living well”

did that woman seriously say she was having inappropriate thoughts about the teenagers on instagram wtaf (not actually digging further into this is probably my biggest frustration with the video, as I think that’s a million times creepier than the erotic harry potter cosplay she was doing with onlyfans. I do not believe that in the post-corona era that there is a single teen who thinks good things about the harry potter series let alone horny things)

oh yeah the harry potter fetishism is probably why she was so crazy about cambridge in the first place. in one interview clip she calls it “dark academia-coded”. which is just, so much to unpack but lets’ just throw that whole damn suitcase into a bottomless pit never to be seen again kthx

she references her father’s death constantly in a way that makes it clear she is very much not over it. doesn’t help that both she and her dad had obvious emotional stability issues.

don’t feel too sorry for her though. she really plays up the “well, as a conventionally-attractive thin cis white woman in her 20s, I’m the last demographic that it’s socially acceptable to hate on” schtick too

Can’t actually get the book shipped out in time

the new yorker article about the book points out something that was not clear in the video which is that one of her onlyfans erotic cosplays was of dagny taggart from atlas shrugged. which. ewwwwwww

I had the same fucking feelings about the interviews! Why is there so much interview footage of her? It’s mind-boggling to me!

Everything about her is insane to me. Mint called her the Final Boss of White Women.

i remember reading the original article on her a long time ago, didn’t realize it got this bad

honestly the worst part about this woman to me is how she takes interviews lying in bed. actual freakmode behavior

“the final boss of white women” is perfect

I’m also confused why people keep interviewing her, too. Like it does seem like half these interviewers are mostly checked-out by halfway through which makes me wonder why they even bother.
