got my Q3 review in like 10 minutes and i’m very nervous about it since it’s a new boss. she’s been very nice but i’ve had very sweet people absolutely obliterate me during feedback LOL. i tried to get ahead of it by already being hyper-critical of myself in our prep-doc LMFAO

watching a stream vod of the dragonball game and seeing a cutscene of 60fps big monkey vegeta moving around with wobbly mocap motion data of just a person walking around hunching down pretending to be looking at small people is so funny… i respect mocap ive worked with it its an amazing tool and it can look great in cartoony and anime styles when you actually put in the work, like great ace attorney hiring theater actors for the job and specifically directing them to make over the top dramatic motions that were then cleaned up well and looked great on their models. but theres so many games with cutscenes that didnt have great motion acting in the first place and then they just plop that wobbly real person moving about data right onto the models with what feels like the bare minimum cleanup and editing and it looks so silly especially with more stylized and anime graphics and i dont know if its just because ive worked with animation and mocap but it stands out like a sore thumb to me every time lol.
