I can’t remember sharing anything from Twitter here at the moment, but I don’t think there’s any essential accounts left there anymore. If I ever come across a cool artist or joke - which is getting rarer and rarer - I’d just not post here.

I assume the intent is “no pointless/superfluous miseryposting”[1], which is much harder to put into a sensible rule

But its wild twitter is being treated the same as 4/8chan

Banning twitter but not all other forms of social media is fucking stupid.
Like, seriously.
Bluesky is constantly banning palestinians like crazy, deliberately changed the rules to allow Jesse Singal on, and has the ruinous ban lists feature. Facebook I don’t think I need to explain how awful it is. Tiktok is considering the phrase free palestine to be hate speech. Instagram has been censoring sex workers for ages, and given it is controlled by facebook, has also been infested with AI bullshit.
All of them are the nazi bar. Ban them all or ban none.
I want to be clear, I use multiple social media groups, because that’s where people are, but they all do massively evil shit. It feels incredibly disingenuous to ban just one.
The only one out of those that gets posted here is Bluesky and they don’t have a CEO who did a nazi salute in national TV. Even if it was banning just one, it’d be better than banning none.

if you think “all websites are bad” is some new fucking thing i’ve never considered then you’ll be shocked to find out that, actually, i know!
the difference between all the shit you just mentioned and twitter is that it continues to be a primary vector of sharing information for companies, artists, and otherwise. no one’s posting facebook links in your discord. hell, 95% of the tiktoks i see are just them being reposted on Twitter and then shared elsewhere, that’s how annoyingly prolific it is.
maybe you forgot that i run this place but i have the data to tell you that of all of the websites that you just mentioned, twitter is the only one that’s appeared more than three times, which is why i’m considering getting rid of it here, on this forum.
don’t be fucking facetious and don’t try to “holier than thou” me like this ever again. if you want me to go firebomb Instagram’s offices with you since you feel so fucking strongly about it then either get me a ticket or shut the fuck up. typing this shit out to make yourself feel like you’re better than everyone else seems like much more of a waste of time than doing that.
