I did indeed grab PoE2. Yeah this definitely feels better than the first. Having the skill gems be “yeah instead of these dropping randomly you get to pick” and having them not have to slot into equipment is SO much less annoying.
It feels weird to me that Evasion is a stat and ALSO a thing you do (what with the new dodge-roll) but I’ll get over it.
gf and I have been playing Void Stranger (she controls, I act as the second brain). we have to restart constantly because she forgets to do stuff on certain floors and speed runs to the exit and I miss it because I was paying attention to my knitting. sometimes she forgets the same thing on two consecutive runs. I love her but she’s giving me an apoplexy.
she just forgot the same thing for the third run in a row I think I am going to die actually
I’m very near to the end of the World of Balance in ffvi, so we’re getting to the real meaty part of the game. excited cause i don’t remember the last time i got this far
Last time I played Against The Storm, I think I ended up disliking it because of how tight some of those objectives are. This time, knowing that in advance, I still don’t enjoy it fully, but now due to the roguelike-ish mechanics.
The game is aware of it, and expects you to improvise, but there’s only so much you can do; You begin with all basic harvesting building, for example, but not with any farms. So if you find fertile soil but have been unlucky enough to not draw any from your rewards, good luck. The same goes for advanced constructions to mine larger nodes, or relief buildings.
Although I can see there are upgrades and bonuses to make more constructions “essential” - as in the ones you already start with - I can’t help but feel that’s just removing one small step of what makes the game so annoying to me, and that it would largely be better if it was erased altogether.
It does it’s a total revamp and plays super well (I never finished the original for the same reason, or the Spyro remaster, which they patched in like 8 months after I cared about it)
just hit the first puzzle in the game I sincerely disliked. after spending about 90 mins trying to figure it out ourselves we ended up looking it up. I don’t feel enlightened at all having seen the solution I’m just sat here like how the fuck was I meant to get that. >:(
I did not enjoy void strangers so I feel your pain. I get what it was trying to do but zeroranger is much further up my alley. Obfuscation is a dogshit puzzle mechanic and no one can convince me otherwise.
honestly I tried to play it by myself and gave up pretty fast because I am dogshit at sokoban/sokoban-type things, but gf is pretty GOOD at the sokoban aspect, so we’ve made it much further as a team. we’re both enjoying it on the whole, this one puzzle just suuuuuuuuuuuuuucked
I’ve been playing melee (monk built around lightning flurry or w/e it’s called), and the two main dangers are getting surrounded, and not realizing three big dudes are doing attacks simultaneously
Both of which I’ve been dying to still, but less than before :')
I poked at all of the classes so far and Mercenary is the one that stuck the best. I don’t think I’ve even gotten close to dying yet lmao. (But also I’m still in act 1, just got to the big graveyard.)
I got my second ending in Ever17 last night, right before going to bed. It was much more informative than my first but also WAY sadder than it and the weight of it didn’t really hit me until just before I clocked in this morning. So that was a fun shift. Also it featured honest to god bloodplay just before the tragic ending? Takeshi bites Tsugumi as a joke, and accidentally draws blood, then they notice she’s also bleeding from a cut on her lip, then they make out and she bits his lip hard enough for it to also bleed.
my biggest depressive episodes are directly tied to my playtime in diablo so i feel this PoE2 is super fun as someone who also wasn’t real into PoE so enjoy
