What are you playing?

These days I’m not playing too much more than eFootball, which is still a live service game but unlike FIFA EA Sports FC has no up-front cost and is, as everyone used to say back in the day but I never listened, built around a game engine that feels much more in line with how the sport actually feels to play and watch.

Since the last major update they put in a proper single-player mode. Finally you can simulate your own USL Championship season, with all real teams and players (to a point – the roster data isn’t yet up-to-date with the postseason signings, and I don’t think this year’s two new teams are in there yet). I totally admit I downloaded it to represent the local boys on it.

Huh. I’ll have to look into eFootball and poke around. Thanks for the heads up

I mostly swap around PS+ games these days, or remember something in my Steam backlog.

Currently am dipping for the…fourth or fifth time? back on Destiny 2, as I’ve exhausted my current Warframe goes but still want some shooting, plus the Witch Queen expansion is in the catalogue. It still not a terribly engaging game, but the looting, achievement hunting and daily completions make my brain go brrrrr. There’s also some event happening since yesterday, which is another endorphin injection with even more cool rewarding achievement noises when I kill enemiesin a funny way.

Also started Sifu yesterday, another currently monthly game. I remembered it taking Sekiro inspirations, being parry heavy and focused on breaking enemies and bosses stances so you can execute them, and its fun so far. Not terribly fond of dodging upper/lower attacks, that’s something I haven’t enjoyed since God Hand, but I feel I can bash my head against the enemies with just the normal parries and dodges. Game feels tight, and I like how the aging mechanic works as an odd way to level up; I reached my 30s and it lowered my health but increased my damage, which I can confirm is what happens when you’re that age.

lol no I couldn’t, the second boss of the game is “low dodge or die”. Still, I’m a Gamer™ and spite is my main motivation, so I just kept going back and memorizing the patterns until I managed to get a good read and lowered my max age to 28.

I played all of Sifu on easy mode lol it gets to be a lot

After a solid month+ of coordinating with the fiber company and my leasing office I finally have real Internet and not this shitty Xfinity prepaid box.

I’m so happy to derust in Tekken, just need the time to play now.

Who do you play in Tekken? I haven’t been playing much lately because of Infinite Wealth and FF7 Rebirth back to back, but Tekken is a lot of fun and a blast to watch.

Now and forever always… King

And of course the occasional button mash Steve

X and Y were fun, I thought they introduced a lot of interesting evolutions of pokemon from gen 1 and 2. Those were also the games that got me deep into competitive pokemon. I played Legends Arceus but didn’t get very far, I’m definitely more interested in team building and battling but Arceus seemed to be focused on the Dex and its completion, catching pokemon. Curious to see what the hook for this Legends is, city builder could be interesting.

Interesting, im the opposite which is what I think drew me to finishing a pokemon game in years with Arceus. Also the general speed of things. Being able to battle in the overworld and keep it pushing at Mach 4 was awesome

Yeah, I’ve heard that’s why some love it. I love the idea of being like, an early pokemon professor/research assistant. The act of playing it wasn’t for me as much as I wish I could have gotten into it.

I got really in the weeds as early as gen 4, but skipped 5-6 to get very into it come Sun and Moon until this current gen. Something about Scarlet and Violet just brings me so little joy in battling maybe if it were a better game

It def felt like a prototype in ways so I’m glad they’re pushing it further with a new one!

My oldness is showing because everything I wrote about gen 6 was entirely me thinking of gen 4. I thought “Oh yeah, gen 6, that’s when we got Weavile, Mammoswine, Electivre, Tangrowth, Togekiss. I’ve done so much damage with a life orb knock off weavile”.

Wow, I still really like gen 6! I’m a mega evolution defender.

Oh absolutely! I defended it then and doubly so in retrospect with what we’ve gotten since.

Also don’t feel bad about mixing up the gens we’re up to 9 and now over 1k little freaks.

I think it’s partially why I ended up playing gen 2 at least 4 times last year. Something in me wants to go back when it was much simpler.

I’m too bedridden to play Rebirth right now so I’ve been getting back into OT2. I forgot how hard this game can be once you hit level 45 so I’ve just been running around exploring and doing side dungeons. Lovely game, GOATed OST
