I really liked it lol
I can’t get past the LoL of it all.
Glad it’s good, I’ll be over here.
I recently resumed my watching of Cavaleiros do zodiaci (Brazilian Knights Of the Zodiac). And emim surprised with how much of the words i can understand. Still cant parse everything 100%, but its a good reminder of how far ive come learning Portuguese.
Saint seiya is just a good show regardless. It’s very paint by numbers due to its age, but it still hits and the voice actors do a great job too.
I had a pt-br subbed series i was watching, but the Lula regime started cracking down on piracy since i last was watching anime regularly, so i maybe have to continue Viral Hit in English subs.
Yea, its a recent and very unusual development, given, you know, third world country and all. I’ve only began buying games and paying to watch stuff at home with Steam and Netflix around 2009 or so? And have since stopped doing a lot of that.
Wonder how far reaching it’ll be, and how lasting, but so far it has been an annoyance to find the few dubbed shows I’m curious about watching.
I became a foreign bolsonarista because my favorite anime site was taken down.
Simulcasting summer 2025
Streamed Red One at the behest of a friend who wanted to see it.
Surprisingly a legit popcorn movie. Legit entertaining throughout.
Watched Transformers One today. First of all, I gotta say, I’m definitely not a fan of the humanoid faces. I get why they do it in an animated medium because they’re cowards but I’d really rather have it follow the old school of robot expressions where they have accessories that simulate eyebrow or eye movement.
Overall though, this was a stellar animation. The fluidity, the 3D work, the particle work, it was some crazy stuff. They also manage to get a good origin story, or at least 90% of a good origin story. There’s a lot of aspects that are very modern - and I was told the whole thing with the miner’s stories is from an IDW comic and not in any of the previous cartoon, so weirdly enough I knew about the one story where they bring that from - while working through a PG lens. And also, funny thing about that: They get away with a lot of violence on account of this not starring human. Including one particularly brutal kill that made me actually jawdrop.
Unfortunately, the 3rd act, or the 3.5rd act speeds up a lot of plots because its That Story, and people wanted to see That Story, so they just had to do it. Which is sad because it kills a lot of the build up to get all pieces in place, and ends up feeling very rushed.
Still, as a whole, this is a great flick, and I’m glad to see that we got a lot of stellar animated movies of note outside of Disney.
movie was much better than i expected, a shame it got absolutely obliterated by The Wild Robot, it didn’t stand a chance
some of the transformation usage was extremely inventive and made me pop off aloud in the group chat lmfao
There were some absolutely Devastation moves being throw at points there, especially the last fight
Boogiepop Phantom is a great way to feel seen as someone with depression, but it’s also maybe too heavy, so I started watching Go Go loser ranger on Hulu.
Saw Red One. It’s surprisingly good considering the concept and really bad trailer.
guy who thinks red one and transformers one are related to each other in a ‘10 cloverfield lane’ kind of way
guy who always think people means Bruce Willis’ geriatric action movie RED instead
Guy who thinks Red One is a RED prequel where everyone is CGI de-aged
ngl when I first heard abt this movie this was the first thing I thought of
same, I thought it was a prequel or something
It’s weird they called the RED sequel Red One, did Microsoft produce this or something?
They gave Hideaki Anno a Gundam! Studio Khara is making a new series! WTF this rules
we have a Mecha Anime Talking Time thread you may be interested in >:)
They did some weird stuff to the Rudolph broadcast on NBC. Yes, it is one of the more complete broadcasts you’re likely to see (but isn’t any different from the CBS broadcasts they’d done since 1998 up until this year with the rights transfer), but it also is still less complete than the blu-ray release and has a ton of ads (about a third of the 75-minute runtime). What really got me was that they’ve done something weird to try to enhance the visuals, presumably of the “basic AI upscaler” variety, which gives a lot of added detail to the figures. It looks a little uncanny because along with that there’s a lot of reduction of ambient lighting, there’s a loss of photographic depth of field, and there’s some mismatch in the color temperature from what I’ve used to. I also feel like whatever they did to enhance the visuals came at a significant loss of detail for the snow – the ground now has a distinct lack of texture.
