i wasn’t wrong about this particular observation but even though I almost gave up the show in the middle, it really came through in the final three episodes… THEY WERE COOKING WITH THIS ONE!
watched V/H/S/94 with our partner for halloween. very much enjoyed it. gotta love some fun mid-budget horror. The Subject was my favorite in the anthology.
tonight we watched Transformers One together and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Watched an episode of SNL since my brother put it on. I say this as a guy whose drug of choice for most of my late teens and early adult life was just not going to bed: any given SNL skit has the distinct tenor of having been plotted out by someone who’s massively sleep-deprived. And knowing what I know about how episodes of that show are scheduled, I believe it 100%.
Moments I appreciated: realizing that I will not be able to pick Tim Kaine and Tim Walz out of a lineup because they look like the same guy, Keenan (as ever) stealing the show as Little Richard guest-starring on a fake 90s sitcom, Ego Nwodim working hard not to break as what was supposed to be possum milk squirted out of her costume, and Maya Rudolph as a deeply-animated Reba McEntire.
Everything else I just sorta looked at confused and wondering what the joke was. Probably some of this is funnier if you actually live in new york?
currently watching jerma stream ufo 50
I watched all of the Planet of the Apes prequel/reboot movies this weekend. I enjoyed them, more than I expected. Very watchable movies though I found myself skipping through parts of the 3rd.
I bought Jane Goodall’s My life with chimpanzees afterwards.
thank you for reminding to catch up!! ahh i forgot
edit: so sorry to tag you in a post from eight months ago
crying at the power of having 1 Weird Fan
Two episodes in: Dandadan rules.
I have come to the sad realization that I simply do not enjoy watching Desert Bus for Hope live, I find it swings too wildly from sub-par background noise material to legitimately attention worthy and back, and the non-stop livestream format means I rarely feel like I have a natural stopping point, which often becomes a huge problem because it triggers the same “But I don’t wanna leave it unfinished” feelings that I have with youtube videos I like that are under an hour long (And even a lot that aren’t). I did still donate already though, and I’m actually working on a Ryu Number quiz in the back of my mind that I hope to send in… assuming work leaves me enough energy left over to finish it (I wanna give it a bit of flavor, and maybe include images of the characters, and find a 5 that sounds good, and at least one unexpected 1). Worst case scenario I save it for next year I guess
Friend and I really needed a distraction from Everything That’s Going On so I showed them Evangelion for the first time.
I was ready to hate it on rewatch, but that wasn’t the case. The bad parts were as bad as I remember, but the good parts really hit for me this time. It’s a fascinating work of art. Not the sort of thing you want to feel seen by, and yet…
I have never finished Eva but I have so much merch of it lmfao. That purple color scheme goes hard
god, fuckin’ real. i watched it when i was 19 and very little stuck but the design of asuka and EVA-01 still fucks.
: When we were customizing our mech in AC6 we entirely accidentally recreated Shinji’s Eva so, yeah, the purple scheme goes hard lmfao
eva was pretty foundational to a lot of our conceptual fixations. love when a robot is meat (jic anyone cares ab any sort of spoilers?). and yeah god the design work and visual direction in the show is so fucking good
I’m the rare Eva fan who loves the original AND Rebuild and I feel you. I first watched it when I was like 11 (oops) and hated it but over time I realised I hated it because I hated me and I saw myself in it :S now it’s like one of my bestest bests
shinji icrowi…
technically I’m still watching Cowboy Bebop but it’s at the pace of like. three episodes per whenever. but I do really like it. they are a delightfully weird little family just getting by.
Has anybody here been watching Arcane? I am vaguely considering watching it on the hopes that it is good, but am not wholly convinced.
On the one hand I see a whole lot of people hollering about it online.
On the other hand it is league of legends
i watched about half of the first season and it wasn’t bad but like you say, it is indeed league of legends LOL
