OOOH is this a polynian figure?? didn’t realize they were doing touhou girls now, this is a neat style crossover
yeah! it’s very cool. they have Marisa and Reimu. seems like they’re out of production now though…? since they’re sold out everywhere now. i think they might’ve been a re-release but i could be entirely wrong.
we wanted to get the Reimu to go with her but it didn’t end up happening, which were ok with. the marisas already have little reimu and big alice to keep them company anyways
ohhh damn ive seen polynians around here and there but didnt know about these touhou ones. ive become so model kit-pilled recently im not super interested in traditional figurines and action figures nowadays, but i might make an exception for these some day. reimu first released in 2019 but had a reproduction last year, and looks like marisa released this year. for most figure companies its really hard to find their figures new outside of the specific production windows, but japanese secondhand is goated. i get a lot of my gunpla off surugaya because there actually miraculously is a swedish gunpla store, but their stock solely comes very slowly from the bandai new releases and reproductions track, and i get a lot of old production and weird variant kits.
alrighty, finally had a chance to do some collection photos
i have some more nendos and my models around my desk but i’ll save those for another post. i’ve been collecting for well over a decade and a half-ish now which is kinda wild to think about
my friend was making a surugaya order the other month and asked me if i wanted something and i impulse purchase asked her to throw this cheap purple miku rody prize figure in the order… i have no idea how i continue to cram more things into these shelves LOL when i have to empty out my apartment for some upcoming renovations in a year or so i will be procuring more display shelves for when i move back in
I have a couple Gunpla, I don’t got any pictures of them at the moment as I don’t actually have any available shelves for them and one of them needs a quick repair, but I greatly enjoyed putting them together. They are the Hygogg and Qubeley HG kits, I was absolutely enamored with their designs and just had to get them. I’ve also got a few LEGO sets as well.
In terms of non-buildable figures, I have a lot. Some of the more interesting ones are my bootleg Pokemon, a Starship Troopers bug (forgot the name but it’s got blue on it), several Monster Hunter figures, a couple Monster in my Pocket figures, and I’m in the process of getting some rather rare Dragon Hunters figure from around 2006.
Meet the Gundam Astray Red Frame (Flight Unit). It has the most equippable at once accessories of any gundam kit I know of. It has 2 backpacks, 1 rifle, 1 shield, 2 beam sword hilts, 1 mech sized katana with sheath, and finally a double beam saber thingy.
Fangamer is now selling an exclusive, maybe limited? (Assuming this from the restricted purchasing amount and the fact that it’s not on the EU store) Outer Wilds ship model. It’s a more traditional scale model, that you have to glue together and paint yourself. The amount of parts is a bit underwhelming, and whatever the EU price it’d be would probably make me frown, but I do have to admit it’s a bit tempting… I will heavily consider if it actually shows up on the EU store. The fact that the FAQ admits that several parts of the manual are confusing or outright incorrect is funny though lol.
Built a Suletta Mercury kit. The plastic on these is softer than you’d expect from the other Bandai gundam kits.
ive never had a fancy lego before but dad bought this for me for christmas because it looks like the cat
omg I saw this advertised and wanted to buy it cause it looks like one of my cats hehe. it would need green eyes though…
lmk if it’s fun to build! I might look into it
not the end of the world, you can get replacement pieces in the mail, and its an outwards facing part so ill keep building. ill wait to ask for the replacement until i finish in case any later bags just happen to have bonuses of this type of piece or if there are more missing pieces. no idea how common this is, but just kind of puts a damper on the experience.
I did not enjoy building the terrain, especially all the water tiles, but despite that I think this is still one of my favorite sets I’ve ever done. The way the 45-degree angle fits together is really satisfying.
thats sooooo pretty i love it!
i have finished the kitty… i got lucky, i was missing a thin 2-wide black piece from that step mentioned in my last post, and i didnt end up with a spare one of those pieces with the last of the bags, but i did end up with two spare 1-wide black pieces that i just used instead. dont have to grumble over waiting to receive a replacement piece in the mail.
overall thoughts? i have no idea how this rates as a lego kit because its the only one ive ever made, but it was a fun experience. very easy, looks nice. it feels a little bit wobbly? the back legs keep falling off when i lift it but at least you can just pop them back on. maybe i just really needed to jam that bottom assembly with the back legs on REAL hard but at this stage its difficult to do that with the whole bulky heavy thing put together. other than that very minor point the only real negative was the missing piece. i had a good time!
that’s a bummer :( at least you can do heterochromia tho! what a cutie they turned out to be :)
